The Contradictions Book Tag

1.) I LOVE THIS GENRE BUT I DIDN’T LIKE THIS BOOK

True Crime: The Serial Killer Whisperer by Pete Earley. Not only is the subtitle misleading, but the fascination Tony showed in his serial killer “friends” was unnerving.

2.) I RARELY READ THIS GENRE BUT I LOVED THIS BOOK

Don’t Read the Comments by Eric Smith! This book was so sweet and wholesome that it made me want to start giving Contemporary YA a chance again. You can read my review here!

3.) I LOVE THIS TROPE BUT I DIDN’T LIKE THIS BOOK

I love a good Age Gap romance but Voyeur by Fiona Cole was a miss for me. I’m all for questionable in my darker / forbidden romances but Callum was an excessively tortured hero and I had no patience for him as you can tell in my review.

4.) I HATE THIS TROPE BUT I LOVED THIS BOOK

A Pack of Blood and Lies by Olivia Wildenstein. This one is tough because I tend not to read books that have tropes I hate. I know I stopped this series because it had a love triangle type set up and I had no tolerance for it at the time. I’m still a bit skittish around love triangles, I would rather a “why choose?” Full review here.

5.) I LOVE THIS AUTHOR BUT I DIDN’T LIKE THIS BOOK

To Steal a Heart by K.C. Bateman was a 2.5-3 star read for me. I enjoyed Marianne but Nic had zero impact and was a bit obnoxious.

6.) I PREVIOUSLY DISLIKED A BOOK BY THIS AUTHOR BUT I LOVED THIS BOOK

I’m going to cheat a bit with this one and choose Moon Called by Patricia Briggs. I read this one a few years ago on recc from my sisters-in-law and was underwhelmed. I reread it in February and enjoyed it much more! I’ve started lowkey binging the series and I think I’m on book 6.

7.) I LOVE THIS COVER BUT I DIDN’T LIKE THIS BOOK

Demon King by Elizabeth Briggs drew me in with the cover and the story barely hit two stars for me. Verboten angels are intriguing but this was essentially Lucifer (tv show) fan fiction and not enough meaningful world building.

8.) I DON’T LIKE THIS COVER BUT I LOVED THIS BOOK

Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren! So cute and lovely but definitely not my favorite cover. It is memorable but that’s about it for me.
