Current Status: Not Accepting Requests

Thank you so very much for visiting my blog! This is typically where you will find all the information you need to know about my reviews and how to submit a review request. But first: I am currently not accepting requests.

It is always flattering when someone wants to work with me. Unfortunately, I have seen a significant uptick in authors requesting a review without reading, or blatantly disregarding, my “NOT accepting requests” banner here and other places. Additionally, in these requests they also haven’t provided the information requested below in my policy. This is distressing and, honestly, disrespectful of the boundaries I have placed as a reviewer. I review as a hobby, I do not get paid for this. As such, I dedicate the same amount of time to DCR as I do to my other hobbies. Please treat reviewers with respect and pay attention to our policies.

Before we get started: I promise that I will post fair and honest reviews of books that I have purchased, borrowed, been gifted or have received as ARCs. I am in no way compensated for the work I do here on the blog. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Authors & Publishers

Thank you for visiting Dream Come Review and your interest in requesting that I read and review your novel. Please keep in mind that this blog is a hobby for me and I can’t accept all requests.

I accept Advance Reading Copies and Review Copies of ebooks. I use a Kindle/Kindle App so that format is preferred.

The following genres are more likely to be accepted:

Chick Lit, Fantasy, Mystery, Romance, Science Fiction, Thriller, and Women’s Fiction.

I will not accept or review non-fiction (true crime is an exception), religious fiction, memoirs, or self-help books as these genres do not align with my interests at this time.

With each review request I will need the following information in order to make an informed decision:

Detailed book summary
Release date
Why you think I would enjoy this book or why you would like me to consider reviewing (include tropes and content warnings)
Time frame in which you would like to see a review posted to ensure I am able to commit to that timeline (IF you have a specific date please tell me)
Any additional expectations you may have

Please allow at least four business days for my response.

If Accepted...

All reviews will be cross-posted to my Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Bookbub and Goodreads accounts. I will also include a brief review on my Storygraph account.

If the book is an ARC, I will aim to publish the review on or around the release date. Sometimes my personal life gets in the way of this. I am a parent and have familial responsibilities that come first. If I ever fall behind a gentle reminder is always appreciated (key word is GENTLE here).

I include an “About the Author” section at the end of my review. I pull my information from author websites or an author’s Goodreads profile so please make sure your information is up to date or send me your preferred information. Please be sure to provide your media packet as I do not have the extra time to track down author social media sites, biography info, etc.

If you want me to send you a link to my review on the blog and/or Goodreads, please let me know. I do not send those links out unless requested. It is also my policy NOT to tag authors in my social media posts. If you would like to be tagged, please let me know in your review request.

Negative Reviews

Please note that my reviews reflect my own personal opinions and tastes.

Unfortunately, there may be instances in which I do not enjoy the book. I can promise that negative reviews will never be mean-spirited or intended to bully the author in any way; just an honest take on what I thought of the book. Sometimes I get a little heated but I always try to stay respectful. Typically, I do not post 1 star reviews on my blog but I do post them to the other sites outlined above.

Did Not Finish Policy

I reserve the right to not finish an ARC or review copy. I also reserve the right to not post a review/excerpt/feature if I do not feel comfortable doing so. In that event, I will notify the author or the publisher via email as to why I am not writing a review or spotlighting a book. Typically, I do not post DNF books on my blog unless they are part of a wrap-up.

Rating System

Keep in mind that I DO apply half stars here on the blog even though that rating system isn’t utilized on retail sites and other sites I post reviews. It is pretty self-explanatory, but half stars indicate I found a book to be slightly in-between my expectations for certain star ratings.
