I didn't know she was my student the first time I paid to watch her at Voyeur. Once she walked into my classroom, another smiling college freshman, I knew I should stop going. Stop watching. But I couldn't do it. Everything about her makes me want more, and once I realize she wants me too, the temptation becomes irresistible. The worst part is that she has no idea her professor is the one watching behind the glass. I just have to hope that once she finds out the truth, she wants the same thing I do. Because now that I've seen all of her, I can't look away.

Fiona Cole was on my list of authors to read in 2020 and I finally knocked Voyeur out for Romanceopoly!

It is undeniable that Cole knows how to carefully craft a story with heart-pumping, blush-inducing steam. This is not a light read, and truly is probably the most angsty book I’ve read in a few months. Trigger warnings abound, friends! I truly loved the style choices that Cole took when creating the story. The scenes within Voyeur were tantalizing and the forbidden aspect of a teacher-student relationship, though it is college times with consenting adults, made the relationship that much more tantalizing.

The major issue I had was I did not like Callum and that distaste grew as the story continued. Here is the thing though: I hate to read about excessively tortured heroes in my books. I didn’t see any redeeming qualities that would convince me to stick around if I was in Oaklyn’s place. I can see how his issues helped diminish the implied power imbalance in their relationship but I am rarely in a mood to cater to a tortured hero. Just ask Mr. B. He came across as a bit of a bully and an over-sized man-child rather than a sexy, flawed alpha male.

Ultimately, pick up this book because there is a strong possibility you will love it more. Cole is clearly a very talented writer and I will be picking up her work in the future with zero reservations. Not every hero will strike my fancy and that is perfectly fine.

Tropes: Age-Gap | Student-Teacher |  Forbidden Relationship
