New Adult genre can be hit or miss for me. As awkward as Kingston made this story, it had a wonderful mix of sweet, angst, and steam that made reading Austin and Elizabeth’s story a pleasure. Now, if I’m being honest, I didn’t care for Elizabeth but that is definitely just a reader preference and it happens frequently when I dive into YA and NA books. I bet most readers of this book will find her charming while I see […]

First and foremost, I thoroughly enjoyed the close look into all the moving parts of the movie industry from a production perspective. I loved that this contemporary romance had the heroine in a place of power. I’m sure it happens plenty, but I haven’t come across a female boss lead in a while and I thoroughly enjoyed the change in power structure. The steamy intimate scenes were well-written and enjoyable without getting too detailed. Ryan Price was enjoyable as a […]

ARC Review: Out with the Ex, In with the New by Sophie Ranald

ARC Review: Out with the Ex, I..

Ranald weaves a story that keeps a reader turning pages and ignoring adult responsibilities. Just enough detail to perfectly imagine a scene and yet still allows the reader some creative liberties. More importantly, I love that each story I have read by Ranald contains an underlying message of empowerment, self-love, and self-care. We all have been Gemma at some point. Flailing about, pretending to be an adult while we apply for job after job, still live with our parents and […]

Typically, I expect the historical romance that I read to be primarily grounded with accurate, or mostly accurate, historical facts. As a result, I seriously struggled with the fictional nation angle in this story. I enjoyed Eliza’s carefree enjoyment of the masquerade. I could imagine how dazzling the venue could be! And then came the rum punch. There was some serious second-hand embarrassment during the initial meeting between Eliza and Sebastian. I had a strong urge to slap the rum […]

A Midnight Clear was my first winter holiday read of 2019 and overall I enjoyed it! Some of the stories I really connected to, others weren’t my cup of tea, though this is usually the case with short story collections. A Midnight Clear is a fun exploration of darker themes and ideas within the winter solstice season. The Dauntless – A bit silly but made me laugh all the same. Since we are a family associated with the legal process, […]
