Townsfolk and Tourists,
We are well and truly into February with January, thankfully, in the rearview mirror. I love a fresh start so I had set out some goals and I had some successes, some failures. Let’s celebrate a little though!
Non-reading accomplishments: I kept my running streak! I run a minimum of a mile everyday and it has done wonders for my mental health to have that achievable goal in my pocket. I even managed to run 101 miles (162 km) during the month. Some of my reading happened while running on the treadmill when I didn’t want to put down my read (Magic Dark, Magic Divine)!
I have been tinkering with the blog after discovering some issues with the layout but I’m hoping I’ve got it mostly figured out!
On the blog, I’ve been posting more consistently and even planning out future content! My hiatus was very needed. I posted five reviews for January, all but one were ARCs. Now I’m all caught up!
Reviews posted in January:
- Cryptonalia by Patrick Canning
- Read My Lips by Kelle Z. Riley
- Magic Dark, Magic Divine by A.J. Locke
- A Duke In Time by Janna MacGregor
- The Final Girl Support Group by Grady Hendrix
All the graphs below are pulled from my Storygraph stats. If you haven’t had a chance to check Storygraph out, I highly recommend it! Also, let me know if you are on there and want to link up!

January Graphs
I am fairly consistent with my reading “moods.” I tend to prefer lighthearted, adventurous, mysterious reads. Usually “funny” reads are a bit higher but I picked up more informative non-fiction and mystery/horror than normal.
Genre-wise, its no surprise that romance is at the top of the list. I also sprinkled in a bit of non-fiction in the form of true crime this month.
Average rating in January felt mediocre but it wasn’t as low as I expected it to be. My average rating was 3.27, but I still read six 4 star reads and one 4.5 star read. I’m hoping February will have some some 5 star reads.
