Fantasy-Books-on-my-Library-Wishlist

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted at That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week you compile a list of ten books which coincide with that week’s theme. You can find everything you need to know about joining in here!

I’m excited for this genre freebie this week! I’ve been going through my library wish lists and trying to organize them a bit so I’m able to find things easier when I’m in the mood for a certain genre or subgenre! This week I’m going through some of my fantasy hopefuls. I don’t read near the amount of fantasy that I used to. I’ve always been the sort of reader that hops around genres but every once in a while I deep dive/binge/devour/inhale a ton of fantasy at once. The next time that itch hits, these are the top ten on my TBR!

1

I love a female, underdog thief. Up the stakes with stolen identity of a princess to pinch a stone in a sacred garden. Some serious enemies-to-lovers when it turns out the identity assumed is the princess that poisoned her in-laws on her wedding day. There’s so much going on in A Fate of Wrath & Flame and I’m really looking forward to every bit of it!

2

A Touch of Darkness by Scarlett St. Clair has sat on my TBR taunting me with that beautiful cover and promise of a Hades and Persephone retelling. I have high hopes for this one!

3

I haven’t managed to pick up any T. Kingfisher books yet but Paladin’s Grace has been on my TBR for ages and Nettle & Bone sounds like my type of fantasy. Unassuming character that is forced to rise up and smite a tyrannical prince.

4

TJ Klune is one of the those authors that has made his way into my heart and onto my auto-read list. I’m hoping to work through the backlist titles this year and The Lightning-Struck Heart is at the top of my TBR. It sounds funny, heartfelt, with plenty of pining and angst!

5

If I had to name one book that is intimidating but remains on my Fantasy wishlist, it has to be N.K. Jemisin’s The Fifth Season. This is an epic fantasy, dystopian book that I feel like I need to prepare for. It promises heavy hitting themes and some dark and rich settings.

6

Wizards massacred with wild abandon to prevent magic opening portals to hell. The Armored Saint sounds absolutely brutal and I am totally here for an uprising lead by a single village girl!

7

Anyone who has been around me in the past couple years knows that I adore Murderbot. It’s evolved to the point where I’ve started planning out a tattoo. It’s out of hand really. The Cloud Roads has intrigued me and I’m hoping that I will enjoy this world as much as I enjoy her other work.

8

Magic for Liars has been on my TBR since I first heard about it in 2019(?). I decided that I needed to commit, and jumped from Library Wishlist to PHYSICAL TBR. Yes, I bought a copy and now that weird yellow and blue eyeball stares at me. Lurking. Judging.

So yes, I will read it. Eventually I’ll feel so guilty that I’ll have to.

9

Sea of Ruin has popped up in several of my groups as recommended. I even think it wheedled its way into the historical bodice rippers group! I have a couple of Pam Godwin’s books on my kindle but I haven’t gotten around to them. This one is definitely higher on the list. I need more villain romances in my life!

10

I just picked up Welcome to Night Vale to read with Mr. B with the express intent of eventually reading The Faceless Old Woman Who Secretly Lives In Your Home together. He loves The Count of Monte Cristo and this has been billed as reminiscent of that and The Haunting of Hill House. I’m excited to dive in!

Have you read any of these? What fantasy books are on your TBR?
