Where the Sun Will Rise Tomorrow by Rashi Rohatgi (ARC)

Where the Sun Will Rise Tomorr..

Where the Sun Will Rise Tomorrow was my introduction to South Asian historical fiction and an intriguing departure from my usual reads. I have very little background in South Asian history, at least that I’ve retained. I mean, it has been over a decade since I sat in a world history class. I found Rohatgi’s debut an insightful, layered and memorable coming of age tale. My heart ached for Leela and her struggle to reconcile her duties to family, community, and […]

I’m all about representation in the books I read so I was pleasantly surprised to see that the heroine, Shelby, has a physical disability and wears a prosthetic. Everything about her hair to personality screams independent woman and I love that! The biggest thing I took away from this story is Haggerty’s sense of humor. It was woven into every scene, sprinkled with bits of self-deprecation and lack of confidence on Shelby’s part. I laughed the most when Grandma Nancy […]

Fiona Cole was on my list of authors to read in 2020 and I finally knocked Voyeur out for Romanceopoly! It is undeniable that Cole knows how to carefully craft a story with heart-pumping, blush-inducing steam. This is not a light read, and truly is probably the most angsty book I’ve read in a few months. Trigger warnings abound, friends! I truly loved the style choices that Cole took when creating the story. The scenes within Voyeur were tantalizing and […]

Gibbs has created a colorful, if at times confusing, dystopian set in a post-apocalyptic setting. I appreciated that author does just enough world-building to keep readers from being completely lost in this new world but we don’t get bombarded with insane amounts of detail. Instead, readers are treated to an interesting POV from Maz who thinks she is the hottest thing since sliced bread. Maz’s elitism stops just short of grating, thankfully, but honestly my favorite character was Hap. His […]

ARC Review: The Unfettered Chi..

This will be a difficult review to write because honestly, this story didn’t work for me. It has nothing to do with the author’s writing, which was excellent for the style, but everything to do with my expectations for the genre. I tend to be a rather picky when it comes to the fantasy genre. I require an extensive amount of world-building, including telling me the general geography and demographics of the world, and can handle maybe two or three […]
