A brand-new deliciously wicked romance series from USA Today Bestselling Author Kerrigan Byrne. The Goode Girls aren't simply good, they're stunning.
Mercy Goode is only truly good at one thing: finding mischief wherever she goes. Such as getting arrested at a murder scene with Raphael Sauvageau, a brutally handsome, ruthless smuggler with a dangerous past and a dubious future. The silver-tongued devil doesn’t deserve a lick of her confidence, but she has evidence that he’s not the killer.

She can’t deny that he’s relentlessly wicked.

Raphael has no time for obsession. He’s an empire to run, a murder to avenge, and a plan to save his brother that is likely a suicide mission. But this clever, infuriating bluestocking--who insists she’s an amateur sleuth--keeps showing up where she doesn’t belong. And for some bloody reason they can’t seem to be in the same room without him yanking her into his arms and kissing her until they’re both breathless.

Power, prestige, and a staggering fortune hasn’t filled the abysmal void where Raphael’s heart should be...
Perhaps what he needs is a night with her.
Perhaps what he needs is redemption.
Perhaps what he needs is a bit of Mercy.

I have been so excited for Mercy and Felicity’s books especially since Nora’s! Hooked with their first meeting in Goode Girls #2, I am thrilled to report that the fireworks resulting from Mercy and Raphael’s clash was oh so satisfying. The wit and banter was absolutely delightful, and attraction between the two makes for some delicious tension. As we typically have with Byrne’s books, we have a mystery but this one definitely took a backseat to the romance in the best way.

Now, Mercy and Raphael’s romance was a whirlwind! After all, the story is about 214 pages or so which doesn’t give much time. No fancy courting, you can’t really expect a “villain” like Raphael to court a simpering young lady. Mercy is far from conventional and exactly the sort of partner Raphael needs.

Truly, Kerrigan Byrne never fails to write characters that I adore and/or respect. In this case, I was feeling awfully protective of both leads! Mercy is a force to be reckoned with. An aspiring female detective, she is fiercely independent, intelligent, and always ready to deliver a quick tongue lashing to fools. Raphael, leader of the Fauves, is brutal, passionate, cunning, and best of all, absolutely fascinated by Mercy. I wish we had more time with Raphael as his background and complicated internal wars were gripping. As much as I’m looking forward to the next book (Felicity!!!), I really wanted more time with Mercy and Raphael.

I highly recommend for HR readers that are looking for: an unconventional, strong heroine that suffers no fools, redeemable villain, and sexual tension for days. This is the third in the series but reads well enough as a standalone. I adore this series though so I highly recommend reading the first two as well for maximum enjoyment!

TW: violence, references child abuse, reference of sexual abuse of secondary character as a child

About Kerrigan Byrne

author-kerrigan-byrne

Kerrigan has done many things to pay the bills, from law enforcement to belly dance instructor. Now she’s finally able to have the career she’d decided upon at thirteen when she announced to her very skeptical family that she was going to “grow up to be a romance novelist.” Whether she’s writing about Celtic Druids, Victorian bad boys, or brash Irish FBI Agents, Kerrigan uses her borderline-obsessive passion for history, her extensive Celtic ancestry, and her love of Shakespeare in almost every story.

She lives in a little Victorian coast town on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State with her wonderful husband. When she’s not writing you can find her sailing, beach combing, kayaking, visiting wineries, breweries, and restaurants with friends, and hiking…okay…wandering aimlessly clenching bear spray in the mountains.

Anonymously, Alana
