A brand-new deliciously wicked romance series from USA Today Bestselling Author Kerrigan Byrne. The Goode Girls are aren't simply good, they're stunning.
Doctor Titus Conleith emerged from his time as a battlefield surgeon with a mysterious fortune, a lethal secret, and a demon on his back. Ruthlessly intelligent, he was able to lift himself from his beginnings as coal-stained bastard through merciless discipline and inexhaustible skill. Alone by choice, he swore never to open his heart to another. Not after Honoria Goode. The heiress who shattered his hopes and then tread upon the shards of his heart with her bejeweled slippers. The beauty with whom he shared his first taste of passion, before she gave her hand to another.
The woman whose life he just saved from bleeding out on his table...
Honoria’s life as a Viscountess has been nothing but a misery she’d brought upon herself with her own cowardice. Trapped for years in a loveless marriage to a cruel rake, she has been widowed by the consequences of his villainy. Now, she must face the man with the blazing golden eyes of the boy she once worshiped, and the dark past they both share.
As their passion reignites with the same fervor of their youth, Honoria can’t help but begin to wonder…
Will he allow her the second chance she doesn’t deserve?

I’ve read a lot of Kerrigan Byrne this year and I’m wondering if she can do no wrong story-wise.

In Prudence’s book, Honoria (Nora) was an easy character to dislike and honestly felt a bit like a villain. I was excited to see Courting Trouble on the docket so we could see how complicated Honoria was! We picked up right at the tail end of book one (not going to spoil it) and Honoria ends up in Titus’s clinic. Now, this is an excellent example of a second-chance romance that I thoroughly enjoyed! The sizzling tension between Titus and Nora kept me glued to the pages and fangirling a bit at my husband.

I loved Nora’s complexity but Titus… I don’t know how to talk about Titus without swooning and over-excited flailing. I loved how tightly restrained and forbidding Titus was. But under that icy exterior lay a passionate, loyal heart that I just adore. It made watching his unraveling incredibly satisfying.

The lack of communication was a bit maddening, though I can’t say more without having to include a spoiler alert. I felt like the ending wrapped up a bit too quickly when I was enjoying myself so thoroughly.

Ultimately though, Kerrigan Byrne absolutely delivered us a delightfully complex couple with just enough angst and plenty of heat. I am so excited to read the rest of the series after getting glimpses of the other Goode girls!

**I voluntarily read and reviewed a review copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

About Kerrigan Byrne

author-kerrigan-byrne

Kerrigan has done many things to pay the bills, from law enforcement to belly dance instructor. Now she’s finally able to have the career she’d decided upon at thirteen when she announced to her very skeptical family that she was going to “grow up to be a romance novelist.” Whether she’s writing about Celtic Druids, Victorian bad boys, or brash Irish FBI Agents, Kerrigan uses her borderline-obsessive passion for history, her extensive Celtic ancestry, and her love of Shakespeare in almost every story.

She lives in a little Victorian coast town on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State with her wonderful husband. When she’s not writing you can find her sailing, beach combing, kayaking, visiting wineries, breweries, and restaurants with friends, and hiking…okay…wandering aimlessly clenching bear spray in the mountains.
