A business trip with the office hottie turns into a road trip from hell.

Adam Cortinas may be gorgeous, but he’s made it clear he can’t stand Olivia—and the feeling is one hundred percent mutual. Too bad, because in order to bring the company’s new power plant online, they’re stuck with each other for the next week.

When their travel plans go horribly awry, Olivia finds herself stranded in the middle of nowhere with Adam, AKA the bane of her existence.

He’s in her space and in her head. All the forced proximity is driving Olivia insane. That’s the only explanation for these FEELINGS she’s suddenly having.

But it doesn’t change anything. They still hate each other.

Right?

As soon as I saw the blurb for Applied Electromagnetism, I knew this book would be high up on my TBR even if I didn’t get a chance to read an ARC for it. Luckily, my wish came true and I had a chance to sink into this smart and sexy romance! Told from Olivia’s POV, Applied Electromagnetism carries on at a quick pace with whip smart dialogue and chest-tightening feels. I am a big fan of the enemies to lovers trope especially if it occurs in an office setting so I was worried I might be setting my expectations too high. Needless to say, Susannah Nix expertly wrote an adorable, laugh-out-loud romance that sucked me in right from the first paragraph.

I was excited to see a strong female lead that works in a male dominated field. Olivia did not disappoint! She was spunky, intelligent, and funny. Paired with Adam, the two are completely a-dork-able and I was cheering them on from the start. Adam’s growth is subtle through the story but it felt completely relatable. The entire situation around Olivia’s and Adam’s hate-relationship was a bit more tame then I was expecting for an enemy to lovers but it still adds a level of complexity to their budding relationship.

Highlight for this book would have to be the efforts on behalf of both Olivia and Adam to avoid miscommunication. They took great care to come up with an explanation that would resonate with the listener. Communication is so important in relationships so I found it particularly heartwarming.

I do wish the book was a bit longer, I wanted more quality time with Adam and Olivia! That is more of a compliment really. Nix has joined my list of favorite funny, summery reads and I highly recommend this to fans of rom-coms!
