90s Book Tag Music Edition

Townsfolk and Tourists,

We are mixing it up today! I was tagged for this delightful throwback book tag by Jemma and Milly from A Books Neverland over on Twitter. Be sure to pop by and look at the answers on the original tag!

1. What's My Age Again - Blink 182 (What age did you discover your love for reading)

According to my dad, I’ve always been a reader. I remember getting in trouble in 3rd or 4th grade for not hearing the teacher call for me (repeatedly) because I was too busy reading one of the Dragonlance books by Weis and Hickman. I took a break from reading while living in South Korea and started again after having my daughter in 2017!

2. All Star - Smash Mouth (What is your favorite Genre?)

This is tough because I make it a point to diversify my reading BUT I read A LOT of romance.

3. Breakfast at Tiffany's - Deep Blue Something (What is your go to reading snack / drink? or just your favorite?)

I am always drinking coffee or red wine it seems when I’m reading. As for snacks, whatever savory snacks I have on hand.

 4. Give It Away - Red Hot Chili Peppers (What book do you ALWAYS recommend to people?)

Lately, I have always been recommending the Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells. I LOVE this series and I am so stoked to read the last book in May!

 5. ...Baby One More Time - Britney Spears (A book or series you have read more than once?)

I actually reread a lot as I find it comforting. I’ve reread Shelly Laurenston’s Pride Series, Catch-22 by Joseph Heller, and every time there is more than a 3-4 week gap between my library holds for the Kate Daniel’s series I reread it!

6. Tearin' Up My Heart - N'Sync (A book that broke your heart to finish)

I’m not sure how to interpret this one so I’m going to go with Their Eyes Were Watching God by Nora Zeale Hurston. I was reading it while walking on a treadmill in an Army gym facility BAWLING.

7. Crush - Jennifer Paige (Your first bookish crush?)

I have the worst memory but I know in high school I adored Ranger from the Stephanie Plum series. I bought my husband the same cologne/body wash that Stephanie finds in his shower. Morelli is hot and all but Ranger is my man.

8. Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana (A Book you read as a teen that you still love today?)

I adored The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien in high school. It was beautiful and terrifying. I read it again after getting married during my husband’s deployment and I don’t think I could have anticipated the absolute visceral anger and sorrow I experienced with that reread and I still adore it.
