Review: All Scot and Bothered by Kerrigan Byrne (ARC)

Review: All Scot and Bothered ..

It’s no surprise, given the rating, that I was all hot and bothered by Kerrigan Byrne’s latest addition to the Devil You Know. Unlike the first book, All Scot and Bothered leans toward the lighter side of the angst spectrum while still giving both characters complex personalities and heart-wrenching backstories. I was so pleased with both our hero and heroine. I looked forward to both POVs equally, each voice giving all the feels, smiles, and more than a bit of […]

I’ll admit, I am new to this author’s work but I was craving a historical romance with diverse rep and was excited to see a heroine with a physical disability. That sure sounds grim and weird, I know. But, I enjoy reading about diverse heroines, and Miles certainly delivered with Lady Emmeline. After a horrific carriage accident that resulted in the passing of her mother and siblings, Emmeline is left with a brain injury and a mangled leg. The addition of […]

Review: A Secret Surrender by Darcy Burke (ARC)

Review: A Secret Surrender by ..

I’m always excited when I see the potential for a criminal romanced by a lawman (a constable in this case)! Selina is a con-woman trying to support herself and her best friend while they work towards their respective goals. Harry, a straight-laced gentleman that works for Bow Street, was an interesting character. While technically a part of the ton, unlike most second-born sons, Harry skips over purchasing a commission or becoming a man of the cloth and chooses to work […]

In the Dark with the Duke is without a doubt the darkest book thus far in Caldwell’s Lost Lords of London series. Caldwell really puts her characters through a swamp of misfortune. Told in alternating views between Hugh and Lila, both have been scarred by traumatic pasts. Caldwell uses heavy topics such as the Peterloo Massacre, PTSD, and violence against children to weave an admittedly grim setting before bringing two profoundly damaged individuals together in a heartwarming romance.  I really love […]

Review: A Dark and Stormy Knight by Kerrigan Byrne

Review: A Dark and Stormy Knig..

I stumbled on Kerrigan Byrne’s work last year after an opportunity to read and review How to Love a Duke in Ten Days but this is my first time reading one of the Victorian Rebels! Reading it as a standalone worked perfectly well, but I admit I would have enjoyed it more if I had the other books to reflect on for the cameos.  The first meeting of our dear couple, Morley and Prudence, is steamy and scandalous and I […]
