Shelf Control

Shelf Control is a weekly celebration of the unread books on our shelves created and hosted by Lisa @ Bookshelf Fantasies. Pick a book you own but haven’t read, write a post about it (suggestions: include what it’s about, why you want to read it, and when you got it), and link up!

This is my first time participating in Shelf Control! For this week I’ve chosen a book that has traveled with me for over a decade but I still haven’t read.

Chicks with Sticks (It’s a Purl Thing)
Author: Elizabeth Lenhard
Published: 2006
Length: 288 Pages

“A fun, frothy novel about friendship and knitting.
Scottie feels like her whole world is turning upside down. Then she discovers knitting, and it’s as if she’s been thrown a cashmerino lifeline. Soon Scottie and her best friend Amanda along with new friends Bella and Tay find themselves hanging at their local yarn store, a magical place called KnitWit, bound together by a yen for yarn and a hunger for friendship. Their stitches and their relationships become so intertwined that it’s hard to remember which came first: the girls or the purls.”

How and When I got it:
It was given to me by a teacher I don’t know! I was volunteering at a Montana Educator’s Conference at my high school many many moons ago and was passing the time knitting between directing teachers to the different classrooms. A teacher saw me and was just tickled by my hobby and pulled the book out of her tote before rushing off to her next meeting. I was so touched to receive it but I’ve just never found the time to pick it up and read it!
