Twelve Days of Christmas Book Tag

It has been a hot minute since I have posted a book tag. What better way to ring in Christmas Eve than a book tag based on the classic Twelve Days of Christmas? Now, I wasn’t tagged but I did find this gem on Adventures of a Bibliophile so make sure to pop by and give their blog some love!

Twelve Days of Christmas Book Tag

On the first day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: a partridge in a pear tree. The partridge stood alone in the pear tree.

What is your favorite stand alone?

I’ve read a handful of amazing stand alone books this year but The Flatshare is definitely at the top of my list.

On the second day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: two turtle doves. Love is in the air!

Who is your one true pairing?

Kate and Curran from Ilona Andrews’ Kate Daniels series. I ADORE those two.

On the third day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: Three French Hens.

In the spirit of threes, what is the best trilogy you have read?

I honestly haven’t read many trilogies! I did absolutely love the Mount Trilogy by Meghan March though!

On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: four calling birds.

Since series usually consist of four or more books, what is your favorite series?

The first series that sprang to mind was the Kate Daniels series (AGAIN) though in the interest of full disclosure, I haven’t finished it yet. BUT I can’t imagine not loving it.

On the fifth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: five golden rings. One ring to rule them all!

Who is your Favorite Villain/Antagonist?

The Darkling from Shadow and Bone is definitely the first villain that popped into my mind for this. He is definitely one of my top favorite antagonists!

On the sixth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: six geese a laying. Creation is a beautiful thing.

What is your favourite world/world-building?

I made myself pick the runner up because I can’t choose Kate Daniels’ world for all these prompts. I absolutely loved Sanderson’s world building in Skyward and I am anxiously awaiting my turn to read Starsight!

On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: seven swans a swimming. Who needs seven swans when all it takes is one good animal sidekick?

Who’s your favourite animal sidekick?

ANCHOVY!

On the eighth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: eight maids a milking.

Milk is so 18th century. Which book or series takes beverages/food to a whole new level?

I don’t know about whole new level but I seriously need to eat some Brazilian cuisine soon thanks to Mia Sosa’s The Worst Best Man (out Feb 4, 2020!).

On the ninth day of Christmas my true love sent to me: nine ladies dancing.

Dancing is just one skill of a Lady! Who is your favourite kickass female lead?

(STOP CHOOSING KATE DANIELS, ALANA!)

After Kate, I think Ia from Ignite the Stars is a total badass.

On the tenth day of Christmas my true love sent to me: ten lords a leaping.

How about your favourite leading lad?

Vincent Moretti without a doubt is up there! I love that adorable curmudgeon.

On the eleventh day of Christmas my true love sent to me: eleven pipes piping.

What is your favourite book or bookish thing with musical influence? (It can be about music, reference music a lot etc.)

I learned so much about the history of music as it pertains to Georgian England thanks to reading The Duke. I also loved that Paullett used some musical terms in the sexy scenes. Very clever!

On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love sent to me: 12 drummers drumming.

Drum roll please…what is your favourite read of this year?

Asking me to choose just ONE favorite read is absolutely cruel. I discovered some truly fantastic books this year, fiction and non-fiction, as well as a host of new authors to my one-click list. Diana Biller’s debut is just one of the books I absolutely adored in 2019!
